Nisekoz Developments was formed when a group of mad Aussies first came to Niseko in 2001 and thought that they had died and gone to powder heaven. We decided that we wanted to help spread the word about this fantastic area so we invested in building our first lodge – Gouka Lodge.

We chose the name Gouka (“Go-ka”) because it translates roughly into “beautiful” or “luxurious” and this to us summed up our vision to create comfortable places that we ourselves would love to go. The kanji character for Gouka is also the root of the kanji for Australia – which is literally Gouka + Continent or “Beautiful Continent”.

We completed Gouka Lodge for the 2007/08 season and it has exceeded our expectations in terms of comfort, location and amenities. We think our guests agree with us, having a building repeat clientele.
